Description

Fargreen’s business model is based on a closed loop production process – a unique technique that uses rice straw to produce edible mushrooms so that no net waste is left at the end of the production process. Rice straw is diverted from burning to mushroom production, generating large positive contributions to the environment and to community health. Fargreen uses the profits from mushroom sales to invest in its operations and scale up. The faster Fargreen grows its operation, the greater its impact on the reduction of rice straw burning.
Fargreen has designed a smart production model in which the most critical components that determine mushroom yield and quality take place at Fargreen's production center (like treating straw substrate, inoculating spores, incubating the fungal network). Mushrooms are grown in reusable & hygienic kits, which are then transported to a growing room set up on the farmer families' properties. There, the farmers will take care of the fruiting phase of the mushrooms by watering and picking the mushrooms when ready, and then shipping them to Fargreen's processing & packaging center. Here, their work in the supply chain is complete, and the leftovers after mushroom cultivation will be recycled back into the earth - nourishing the soil as bio-fertilizer for rice and vegetable crops, thus closing the production loop.
