Description

IAP partners with local organizations and improves staff efficiency and quality of services through managing the complex process of obtaining government issued ID.

Lack of government issued identification is an unaddressed national crisis that significantly hinders one’s ability to successfully participate in society. 21 million US citizens lack a valid government issued photo ID. An estimated 50% of people experiencing homelessness do not have an ID. Without an ID someone cannot escape homelessness or return from incarceration as an ID is required to verify eligibility for employment, sign a lease, prove kinship, enroll children in school, access medical care, receive benefits, open a bank account or cash a check. Furthermore, without an ID people are more likely to be denied government benefits, be turned away from shelters, and have problems with law enforcement.
